1.Teaching objectves
(1)Knowledge objective:Students can learn some new words and expressions such as “chubby,athletic”to describe a person or thing。

a.Students will be able to find out the main idea and the details of the passage.
b. Students can improve their listening and speaking skills through activities。

2. Teaching contents: This is a listening and speaking lesson,which mainly introduces friends’ appearances and things they do.
3. Teaching key&difficult points:
(1) Key point: Guide students to grasp details of the passage.
(2) Difficult point: Encourage students to express their feelings and ideas fluently.
4. Major teaching procedures
Step 1: Pre-listening (3 min)
Teacher shows some photos of people on the PowerPoint.
Students recognize them and teacher introduces their relationship.
(Justification: This step can make students focus on the topic of this lesson.)
Step 2: While-listening (10 min)
(1) Extensive listening
Ask students to listen to the passage for the first time.
Then students find out the main idea of the passage, and tell how many friends are mentioned in the passage.
Teacher will help to summarize and give some supplements.
(Justification: Students will get the general idea of this passage, and their listening ability can be practiced.)
(2) Intensive listening
Ask students to listen to the three paragraphs carefully and find the specific characters of each friend. Later students should give their answers; teacher shows some details on the PowerPoint.
(Justification: Students will understand more about the passage and improve their listening ability.)
Step 3: Post-listening (5 min)
Students read the article to their elbow partners. They need to correct the pronunciation, and teacher guides them to read fluently.
Students are asked to discuss a question in group of four, and then share their opinions.
Q: Can you introduce your best friend to the whole class?
(Justification: Help students have more confidence in speaking English and they will get the consciousness of cooperation.)
